House Church

Welcome to House Church!  

The dream of House Church is centered around the concept that when it comes to church, smaller is better and less is more.  When you go into the pages of Scripture and examine the power and the effectiveness of the church to carry forth the command of Jesus to preach the gospel and make disciples one has to wonder today what happened?  What in the world has happened to the church?  Why is there such a giant chasm between what we read in the scriptures and what we see today in our churches? 

We all recognize today that there are many flaws in the system of the modern day church.  Too many to list but in a nutshell, the church became large and pastor focused when the intent was to remain small and Christ focused.  The church compromised the Word with the world so that everyone could participate and be comfortable and unconfronted, when Jesus was clear that he hates compromise with the world.  The church became consumer driven and stopped insisting that instead, we as born-again belivers, be driven to live upright and holy lives as commanded in the scriptures.  It became about meetings, by-laws, kids programs and who has the best kids check-in.  It became about lights, sound, technology and worship bands putting on the best shows along with the competition between each church to find the best articulated expository teacher. or storty teller.   Only one problem...

None of these things are represented in the scriptures as God's design nor His desire for His Bride, the church. 

What we do see is a small community of people who were self devoted to living life together with other born again believers.  We see togetherness, accountability and we see people changed and transformmed to hunger and thirst for righteousness because of  the blood of Jesus and the indwelling of the Holy Spirit.  We see a dying to self so that each one could take their place as part of the true body of Christ and serve each other through the gifts given by the Holy Spirit.  

We see growth, maturity, discipline, and discipleship.  Something much different than what is happening in our churches today.
